Traveler

Noelle Franzone | University of Iowa | Fantasy

I find a place to float,

Among the night sky,

Among the stars.

The galaxy weaves a shawl

To drape around my shoulders,

I close my eyes and the world

Stops.

The shawl around my shoulders hums in time with the universe

And I follow in line.

I find a place to float,

My raft a wish, a star, a promise.

I pass a place where galaxies die

I create a map of constellations, and

Pull it under my chin as a

Blanket.

The night sky finds me a place to rest,

Past the place where whale song sounds

At the bottom of the world.

And I sleep

And the night watches

And I sleep.
