I've been the web editor for Wilder Things Magazine for the past two years. In this time, I've had the pleasure of redesigning the website, creating the first (and second) digital-only issues, and getting involved with such a wonderful speculative fiction community! This has been my favorite activity to mess with :)
Sadly, this past semester was my last one. And boy, howdy, it sure was fun. Volume 5 has been a wonderful final adventure. With the help of many others (really I'm talking about the whole Wilder Things staff and wonderful authors who trusted us with their work), we were able to make an interactive reading experience. This is something that involved a whole lot more work than it might seem. From designing a whole bunch of icons and backgrounds (thanks Shea!) to double checking links (Tatum, my blessing and favorite web assistant ever!) and brainstorming logistics (Carmela and Josh, thank you for keeping our goals realistic and keeping us on track!), this was a beast of a project. I know I fell into rabbit holes of searching question forums, debugging, and checking links for the ability to make random page links that actually worked (yes, they work! amazing!). I hope that Volume 5 is one that will bring you, our beautiful readers, as much joy as it brought me (hopefully none of the frustration though! haha).
I am confident that I am leaving Wilder Things and this site in good hands. I look forward to seeing all the amazing work to be published in future issues.
