The Count of Macchiato - Coffee Shop Orders for each Genre

Updated: May 27

We've all been there, walking into a cute little coffee shop with our cute little books trying to find a cute little place to read... until you walk up to the register to order. Nothing is more troublesome than not knowing what to order and staring at the menu for like five minutes only to order what you always get. (I am soooo guilty of this, iced chai latte with whole milk and vanilla syrup please!)

Fret no more, dear readers, for Lydia and I have compiled a list of what each genre we feel would order at a coffee shop. So whether you want to match your coffee to the book you're reading in the coffee shop that day or feel like mixing it up to put yourself in a new mood, let us guide you through the menu.

Comedy - Americano (shots of espresso and hot water)

You don't need any of those extra flavors, but you also need the water with your espresso to hydrate from laughing so hard you cry 😂

Romance - Any flavored latte of your choice

Who doesn't love a nice flavored latte while you're reading your kitschy little romance novel, pretending love like that truly exists 🥰

Horror - Red Eye (brewed coffee topped with a shot of espresso)

There is nothing quite like a red eye to make sure you don't fall asleep... you never know just what might be lurking there while your eyes are shut! 😈

Fantasy - Mocha (think hot chocolate but with espresso)

With all the benefits of an espresso drink, but all of the great things that come with a warm mug of hot chocolate, guaranteed to take you to all of your favorite worlds. 🧌

Historical - Espresso (Doppio if one shot of espresso just isn't enough)

Classic, a tried and true order for those who want that connection to the past. 🪦

Magical Realism - Cafe au Lait (steamed milk with brewed coffee)

You don't need all of the caffeine espresso offers but still love that coffee smell. You've got all the spells to keep you up anyways. 🧙

Sci-Fi - Cappuccino (dry, most likely)

A dry cap for all of the crazy things that seem a little too sceintifically possible, perfect for those who love espresso but need a little less of the bitterness. 🧑‍🔬

Mythos - Flat White (like a latte but with no foam)

None of that foamy stuff for you, you're straight to the point and only take what you need. Guaranteed to stay loyal and true through every adventure and enemy battle. ⚔️

And that's it! Let us know any of your ideas/thoughts in the comments and let us know if our drink recs finally made you order something different in the coffee shop!

So much love from your two fave web editors ❤️❤️,

Tydia (see what we did there? I think we might stick with it 😁)
