Volume 8 Launch Party

As you may have already seen if you follow the Wilder Things Instagram over at @wilderthingsmag, we now have an official time, date and location for our Volume 8 launch party! It will take place on January 24th from 7-8 p.m. and will be located at Prairie Lights downtown. I’m sure that those involved in the literary community here in Iowa City are already well acquainted with this spot, but for those who may not know Prairie Lights is a wonderful bookstore located on South Dubuque Street. It began as a modest little shop in 1978 but has since expanded to three floors and a connected coffee house, and has hosted a plethora of literary readings for esteemed literary voices and up and coming writers alike! Prairie Lights also supports UIowa students by providing them with an alternate location through which they can purchase books for their classes, so here’s a shameless little plug to encourage you to shop local for your next literary purchase and a gigantic thank you to Prairie Lights for hosting the Wilder Things Volume 8 Launch Party! Whether you’re a general supporter of Wilder Things, know someone on the staff, or simply like to keep tabs on the literary happenings here on campus, we would love to have you join us in celebrating this event. You will also get a physical copy of the issue if you’re there on the 24th, but don’t stress if you aren’t free that night; copies will be available afterwards on Prairie Lights’ shelves and in the Magid Center for Writing, which is located on campus in Phillips Hall. So to reiterate, the Wilder Things launch party in celebration of our 8th magazine issue will occur on January 24th from 7-8 p.m. at Prairie Lights bookstore in downtown Iowa City. Bring a friend, bring your mom, bring whoever; we would love to have you all there to celebrate alongside our staff!
